| Chaperone Duties |
|
A chaperone must be 18 years
of age. District rules prevent children who are not in band from riding
on
buses with the band members. Seguin
I.S.D. requires a background check for chaperones. Chaperones wear an
SMB shirt.
The chaperones travel with
the band to make sure band members are safe.
We accompany them to football games, marching
contests and
exhibitions. We
help them stay on task,
help with uniforms and escort them so they are not alone. Please keep in mind we are
to watch over ALL
the band members. It
may not be possible
to keep you with your child. I
will make
an effort to do so. Please
let me know
if you don’t want to be with your child. This flexibility
really helps
me put people where they are best needed. We take the band members to
the restrooms. We
try for groups of
five. Band members
may need help with
the back zipper of the uniform. We
do
this for the safety of our band members and to make sure they promptly
return
to the stands. Band members have components
that are added to the uniform. The
chaperones hand out plumes before the half time show.
The band members give them back to the
chaperones to be placed in the plume box.
Gloves and gauntlets are the responsibility of the
band member. Mirrors
are kept with the uniform specialist
Mrs. Sue McDaniel. While
in uniform the
band members have water only.
Mr. Hunt is our V.P. for
maintenance. He
will need a loading crew
of men to help load the heavy equipment, sound boards, key boards,
speakers,
pit equipment. So men sign up and help chaperone. Chaperones help
getting
instruments and equipment onto the sidelines for our half time show and
competitions. Out of town football games
and competitions: attendance
is taken
before leaving *****FYI***** You may have to buy your football
ticket at some of
the high school games. Chaperones
purchase their ticket for the competitions. |
